Francesco Tamma, Love in Action along with PRDS has created the Nurse in Progress program.
This initiative supports young women from rural villages near Puttaparthi, India, to go to nursing school. In these remote areas of India, where there are little to no medical facilities, nurses are relied upon to provide the only emergency or preventative medical care available at the local level, making their presence within the community imperative.
Over the past month, nine young women have been selected to receive full scholarships to nursing school, ensuring they will have the financial support needed to complete their four-year academic programs. Some of these students are currently enrolled and in need of financial assistance to continue their nursing studies; others will be starting their first year of nursing school this fall. Our commitment to each is $2,000 annually for the duration of their schooling, which covers the portion of their education (both tuition and books) not paid for by the Indian government.
As these young women graduate from the nursing program, they will be able to help and support their local villages creating better health options for those in need.
